Requirements

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar.

Legal Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Help with creating a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when necessary
  • Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department
  • Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly
  • Take care of administrative tasks and office correspondence by answering phone calls and emails, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and informing the team of upcoming deadlines
  • Arrange travel, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
  • Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals

Qualifications

  • At least 1-2 years of previous experience in a law firm setting performing administrative tasks
  • Applicants must be able to type 50 words per minute or faster
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times
  • Associate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessary
  • Ability to comfortably use all Microsoft Office products
  • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs
  • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills
  • Candidates should have a patient and consistent approach to maintaining established standards, guidelines and procedures
  • Unhurried, methodical, step-by-step approach to well-defined, repetitive routines

Client Intake Coordinator


We are a client-centered, creative, and compassionate criminal defense firm looking for an experienced Non-Attorney Salesperson (Client Engagement Specialist) to sell legal services to prospective clients. This includes conducting all consultations for leads who are scheduled with an appointment for our office - these appointments are held both by phone and by zoom.

There is absolutely NO cold calling. Experience in selling professional services is strongly preferred. The right individual for our firm is understanding and empathic, wanting to help people find peace in their most stressful and darkest moments.

This position will require you to be a team player, as ultimate success will come from working well with the sales and marketing team.

This position is In-Office.

  • Manage the pipeline of leads and potential new clients including tracking and use of the firm’s client relations management program
  • Ensure client satisfaction with legal services offered by the firm through post-engagement systems
  • Engage in networking functions to generate leads and potential new clients for the firm

  • Work with the marketing team and assist in implementing various marketing strategies and activities

Billing Specialist


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team.

The Billing Specialist will be an integral part of the finance team and will work closely with our management team and our clients. You’ll have a variety of responsibilities related to managing our firm’s systems of time-keeping, billing, retainer replenishment, accepting payments and collections of accounts receivables.

  • Managing the case management time billing system
  • Work directly with clients to address questions and concerns related to billing and payments and provide excellent customer service with an empathetic attitude
  • Working directly with the firm’s management team in regards to smooth execution of the firm’s finance process
